Plans have been unveiled for a huge new village that is soon to be built in East London. The new Aberfeldy village would see hundreds of homes, shops and a new town centre built next to Poplar and Canning Town if approved.
New photos show how the east end neighbourhood next to the Blackwall Tunnel could soon be transformed. The Aberfeldy Village will have over 1,000 homes, with 900 planned to be finished by the end of 2022. There are already several hundred homes in the newly-built neighbourhood.
The latest plans would see the Tower Hamlets neighbourhood expanded by demolishing a number of flat blocks to make way for several new buildings. The scheme would build 227 homes. Half of these would be “affordable” for East London residents. The village would also have a revamped high street and a new town square for residents, surrounded by shops, bars and cafes.
The plans also include a new park, underpass, parking and cycle lanes. The village’s developers, Poplar HARCA, said they want to build an area that ‘feels like a village’.
