St. Stephen’s Health Centre in Bow, for the first time, will have to cap the number of GP appointments they can offer, even with the ‘emergency/duty’ doctor.
The centre continues to suffer from GP shortages, despite active efforts to recruit more doctors. This has compounded the difficulties they face due to increasing workload demand in primary care nationally.
Once they have reached a maximum safe working capacity, St. Stephen’s may have to temporarily suspend their online consultation service. They may also be unable to provide emergency appointments requested on the phone or at the front desk. This is in order to remain at safe working levels for clinicians and patients.
If your request can’t wait then please call 111 for further advice on your condition, or if life-threatening, i.e. stroke, or problems breathing, please call 999.
Bow Community Hall can be found at William Place, Bow, E3 5ED.
Truly a terrible practice. The care is fine if you can get it but everything else about the experience — especially the desk staff — needs work. I’m not surprised they can’t hire GPs. Their reviews and reputation say it all. St. Stephens management needs a complete overhaul.
