Reader’s notice from Abdul Wahid, founding member of Tower Hamlets Hockey Club:
Tower hamlets hockey club 1st team won the league division 4 title, we are also through to the HA tier 4 cup semi, which will be played in a few weeks. We also had our second team make their debut this season, winning the league division 7 title. The 1st team is continuing their remarkable journey of winning the league each year they have been involved since the inception of the club to the English hockey league back in 2016/17.
We are very proud of the achievement the club has made this year, winning the 4 division title and still in the semi final of the England hockey tier 4 championship.
We are also very proud of our 2nd team who won the division 7 title in their debut season. The team consists mainly of u16 boys from Tower Hamlets.
The club was set up in 2016/17 to give opportunities to local people especially from the BME community an opportunity to play a sport otherwise is not very accessible to them. It was in line with the vision of London 2012 Olympic legacy. Ever since the inception, we have won promotion each of the year we have competed.
The club is going from strength to strength.
