Description
The Line is a free public art trail in East London that connects Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and The O2, following the waterways and the line of the Greenwich Meridian. Its outdoor exhibition programme offers a journey through a dynamic urban landscape where everyone can explore art, nature and heritage for free. Featured artists include Tracey Emin, Antony Gormley, Larry Achiampong, Yinka Ilori and Serge Attukwei Clottey. Allow four hours to complete the entire route or visit different sections across different days – the changing seasons and tides mean no two visits are the same.
The route of The Line passes by some of East London’s historic and architectural sights, including The House Mill at Three Mills Island, Cody Dock and the Royal Docks. Hear directly from the artists talking about their works; discover facts about the local wildlife and heritage; and enjoy mindfulness exercises – all on our digital guide on Bloomberg Connects, the free arts and culture app.
The Line is currently showing Tributaries, a film exhibition exploring our relationships with bodies of water, at The House Mill, Bromley-by-Bow. Contributing artists are Martha Atienza, Ursula Biemann, Hanna Ljungh, Daniela Medina Poch and Elizabeth Gallón Droste, and Alberta Whittle. The exhibition runs from 15 July to 8 October, Thursday to Sunday, 13:00 – 17:00. Free admission.
For those who want a more in-depth experience of The Line, book onto a free Saturday guided tour. Or stop and chat with The Line’s youth guides, who will be stationed along the route each weekend until the end of September.
