‘I come from a typically working-class, East End family,’ she says. So when I was young, I remember going with my mum to the market on a Saturday. And I distinctly remember what a social atmosphere it was here. How people on the streets would talk to each other.’
Dizzee Rascal’s E3 AF (homage to his roots) is the follow up to Raskit, the hard hitting, banger filled album where Dizzee shows those who thought otherwise that he can still bar with the elite.
Flipping through those pages, he shares a realisation he had recently. ‘Actually, these prints ended up being a strange lockdown diary of sorts. Because I can remember little things I did the day I made each print.’
‘I wanted to meet people and hear about their experiences. Everyone’s got a story to tell, especially during this strange period, so I wanted to capture those stories visually.’
‘I’m going to be wherever I want to be and achieve whatever I need to achieve to feel fulfilled. Freeing myself of that need to belong has opened my horizons to so much more, because I just enjoy what is good and makes me happy,’ she says.
You would be forgiven for thinking Hannah Brown’s natural landscape paintings – with their quiet lakes and light-dappled foliage – are placed somewhere in the British countryside.
‘I just wanted to thank people,’ says Liversidge. ‘ All the key workers are just doing their everyday jobs, that they do in their normal life. But at same time they are taking these huge risks to their lives by doing just that.’
‘I love capturing the individuality of people through photos. And they also tell me their stories. For instance, I shot this lady at Cafe Creme, who said she and her friends meet up at the cafe everyday and have a chat.’
