Event description
Thursday 10 November, 4-5pm
Nunnery Gallery & Café
Join acclaimed experimental vocalist Phil Minton for a chance to be part of his legendary Feral Choir.
We’ll be running a one-hour workshop with Phil, culminating in a short performance later the same evening to be part of the private view for Visions in the Nunnery, Programme 2.
We are inviting people of all ages and abilities who delight in the freedom to experiment and join in, for a fun, improvised vocal experience. Phil will lead the group through several exercises and improvisations, to gradually create a temporary choir of all kinds of voices. Everyone is welcome, and the workshop is suitable for anyone who can breathe.
“Joyous and jubilant, now I go better on my way”
previous feral choir participant
Visions Programme 2 is presenting the London premiere of artist duo Webb-Ellis’s film This Place is a Message, who collaborated with Phil as a vocalist to work with the young people featured in the film. This performance will be a celebration of the vocal freedom of expression and a rare chance to work with Phil directly, learning and experiencing how he stretches the potential of the human voice.
The Visions Programme 2 private view follows the workshop in the Nunnery Gallery, from 6-9pm. The performance will take place as part of the private view at 7.30pm – please note, in participating in the afternoon workshop we very much hope you will stay on for the evening and take part in the feral choir performance. There will be time to take a break and get something to eat – our Nunnery Café is on site.
The workshop is free, but booking is essential.
